Julie Buntin’s “Phenomenon” in One Teen Story
(See previous entries)
The first time I ever saw Julie Buntin was at Marymount Manhattan College’s Honors Day, where my favorite professor gave her a glowing introduction that inclined me to hate her, being a middle child and wanting all the love and attention to myself. But then I actually heard her read her writing. It is a really rare thing, that someone’s talent can take your breath away, but Julie’s always has; I still carry a line from the poem I heard her read that day around in my head like a song lyric. Since then, Julie has proven herself to be a fierce supporter and an exemplary person to drink wine with; I’m really looking forward to the day I return to the East Coast and spook her with the extent of my ongoing crush on her.
This story, “Phenomenon,” is her first published piece of fiction but it will not be her last. This is your opportunity to hitch your wagon to her star.
